Branding and product design

Outgoing is an art subscription I run from my studio. Each edition of Outgoing contains an assortment of prints, self-published books of drawings and writing, stickers, magnets, and other design-forward items. Outgoing is artful and accessible, conceptual and cute. I reflected these qualities in the program’s branding elements.

In 2021 I grew the subscriber list for this project from 0 to 25 through a physical mailing campaign, social media, and my newsletter. I’ve designed, produced and shipped 7 themed issues, containing a total of 22 art objects. Here are a few of my favorites from last year:

I grew up 30 minutes from Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, so I was thrilled to develop products for their museum shop. These pieces sentimentally and humorously capture the essence of Fallingwater, through everyday apparel and accessories.

Designing apparel is fun because you get to see other people (literally) in your work. These monochromatic pieces, adapted from my fine art practice, can be a look’s focal point, add a complimentary element, or joyfully clash withe other patterns.

These sculptures use contemporary materials to distill large scale works into accessible, small batch art objects.

Any object can have a creative twist applied to it, and still look cool - even clocks.

Email campaigns and web presence

I use mail chimp to communicate with my biggest fans and most consistent supporters. I build brand trust by offering my sincere outlooks and behind the scenes looks at my process, ending with a call to action. Here are some screenshots of the newsletter:

My website is a versatile tool with pages for portfolios, blog posts, e-commerce, and private pages for client consultations.

Social Media

I’ve managed content for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts via Later, Buffer, and Hootsuite.

Recently I doubled my Instagram following through the use of Reels:

Storytelling

I interviewed Brookyln based coffee roaster Nick Oddo and asked where his mind is at when he’s roasting—is it really intense or automatic at this point? His reply inspired our collaboration’s branding.

“When I'm roasting the coffee I think about balance. I think about catching an egg. That’s what roasting coffee is like for me.”

Gone is a photo book about loss. The artwork utilizes multidisciplinary art and design elements, including: custom-made cloth envelope, 32 page perfect bound book, deluxe screen printed poster, glossy photograph, metallic text print, hand made pin-on button. Made for Casey Droege Cultural Production’s 2017 CSAPGH season.

I was the guest artist at Fallingwater Institute’s annual Convening for arts educators. I provided creative interpretation of key points in the conversation and produced an art book to document the event.
